Nintendo Power was never one of my favorite magazines but it has a great nostalgia factor nonetheless. In early 1993, it was still covering the original NES as well as the Super Nintendo and Game Boy. The February 1993 issue includes:

Super NES

  • Cybernator – A decent shooter from Konami.
  • Harley’s Humongous Adventure – A platform game from Hi-Tech Expressions that seems to be oriented towards the younger crowd.
  • Wing Commander – Port of the PC space combat sim.
  • Jeopardy! – The classic game show starring Alex Trebek.
  • The Addams Family: Pugsley’s Scavenger Hunt – Platform game featuring the Addams Family.

Game Boy

  • Darkwing Duck – A pretty straightforward conversion of the NES game.
  • Spot: The Cool Adventure – Platform game featuring the 7-Up mascot.
  • Alien 3 – Horror themed Action/RPG based on the movie of the same name.
  • The Ren & Stimpy Show – Action/adventure game featuring the famous duo from the Nickelodeon cartoon.
  • Rampart – Classic action/strategy game now for the small screen (though it’s better on the Lynx).
  • The Little Mermaid – Very similar to the NES version. Far too easy for hard core gamers but fans of the movie will like it.

NES

  • Zen Intergalactic Ninja – Beat-em-up with a mixture of side-scrolling and isometric game play.
  • Bomberman II – This sequel from Hudson Soft is just as fun as all the other Bomberman games.
  • Tiny Toon Adventure 2 – A great game for younger players based on a very underrated cartoon series.
  • Eon Man – Sci-fi themed platform game.
