Next up in the batch of comics I picked up for 50 cents each at MegaCon 2019 is X-Men #2. There are several X-Men #2s of course and this would be the one from 1991 when they added a second X-Men title.
Magneto would be a pretty cool guy if he was just a touch less megalomaniacal and wasn’t just a little bit insane.
And check out the ad for Sonic The Hedgehog on the Sega Genesis. Now that was the beginning of an era…
Anyway, in this issue, Magneto pretty much kicks everybody’s butt and kidnaps the X-Men (some of them anyway) to bring to his personal asteroid. The X-Man can’t do too much about it because if they kill or disable Magneto then the atmosphere disappears since he is the one holding it there. It seems he’s a little ticked off about Moira messing with his genetic code back when he was reduced to a baby. That probably makes more sense if you’ve read that storyline…
And here’s another great ad, this time featuring the Game Genie for the NES.
The NES was still going pretty strong in 1991. The back cover features another ad for that system, this time for Wolverine.
Next up in my 50 cent comic book haul from MegaCon 2019 is New Mutants #46. This isn’t the original run obviously but I’ve enjoyed the scattered issues of this volume that I have read.
However, I’m coming in here on the 3rd part of a story that involves time travel so it’s not all that clear what exactly is going on. Future versions of some of the team members are trying to stop present version of team members from doing stuff.
I didn’t enjoy this one quite as much as the others I picked up but I’m sure that’s largely to do with where I’m coming in on this particular story line.
