The One is a U.K. games magazine that was published in the late 1980s and early 1990s. It covered mainly computer games, primarily the Atar ST, Amiga and PC though which machines exactly varied over the years. By 1992, it was mainly an Amiga games magazine. The March 1992 issue includes:
- The Sneak Preview Disk – This month’s cover disk includes the first three levels of Fuzzball so you can try before you buy. The full game has 90 levels. Plus a demo of Indy Heat (a game similar to Super Sprint).
- News – Castles, a new game from Interplay and Electronic Arts; Parasol Stars, the third game in the bubble Bobble series coming soon; Titus the Fox platform game coming soon from Titus; Jaguar XJ220 Sports Racing coming soon; Wizkid, Kick Off 2, Sensible Soccer and Cannon Fodder all coming soon from Sensible Software; Hook, based on the movie of the same name, coming soon; Hare Raising Havoc featuring Roger Rabbit coming soon; and much more.
- Profiles – Bios of game designer and programmer Al Lowe, responsible for the Leisure Suit Larry series, and Steve Turner, Managing Director of Graftgold which is responsible for games such as Ivan Ironman’s Super Off-Road Racer, Flying Shark, and much more.
- Letters – Letters from readers about TV Sports Football, the Quickjoy Jetfighter joystick, basketball games, Tip Off, Grand Prix, the Cruiser Joystick, box sizes, WWF Wrestlemania, and more.
- Work In Progress – Previews of games under development, including The Addams Family and Dune.
- Miracle Plays – A keyboard and software package designed for the Amiga that teaches piano playing.
- My Ideal Compilation – One of the staff picks games that would be included in their ideal game compilation. These included Lemmings, Sonic The Hedgehog, Rainbow Islands, Robocod, The Secret of Monkey Island, and Another World.
- Competition – The prize in this month’s competition is a Nikon 401 camera. The contest is Leisure Suit Larry themed.
- Review – Games featured in this month’s reviews include The Adventures of Willy Beamish, Indy Heat, Big Run, Kid Gloves 2, Video Kid, The Manager, 4D Sports Driving, Dynablaster, Black Crypt, PGA Tour Golf Courses, Harpoon – The Med Conflict, Shadowlands, Steel Empire and Leisure Suit Larry.
- Budget – Budget software is often older games released at lower prices or new games made on a limited budget. Featured titles this month include Monty Python’s Flying Circus, Saint Dragon, Ivan ‘Ironman’ Stewart’s Super Off Road, Manchester United, and Team Suzuki among others.
- Arcades – New arcade games featured this month include Bride of Pinbot from Williams (pinball), Asterix from Konami, Knights of the Round from Capcom, and F1 Exhaust Note from Sega.
- Demos – Highlighting new demos for the Amiga. Included this month are Odyssey (which consumes 5 disks), Painting by Numbers, Pick ‘N’ Mix II, and much more.
- U.S. Gold Competition – Complete the phrase for your chance to win a radio or t-shirt.
