Airstrike for the Atari 400 / 800. Very very difficult, or so it claims.

English Software was a relatively short lived U.K. based software company (1982-1987) that made games for various computers. Their specialty was the Atari 8-bit line but they also made games for other machines including the Commodore 64, Amiga and Atari ST among others. Air Strike was their very first game. Their emphasis on Atari 8-bit games is pretty unusual for a U.K. based company because that machine was not very popular there, probably in large part due to its relatively high cost. However, many of their games also ultimately ended up being released in the U.S. as well.
Air Strike is much like the arcade game Scramble. It is essentially a side-scrolling shooter within enclosed spaces and with limited ammunition. As the ad says, it is very, very difficult. It was popular enough to spawn a sequel, aptly named Air Strike II though as far as I know you’ll need an original machine or an emulator to play either one as there were never any re-releases on newer machines that I am aware of.
