This “monster of the week” episode revolves around a man with incredible luck. Though “luck” seems an odd X-File it works pretty well in this case.
All the lucky guy wants to do is raise enough money to help a seriously ill boy who lives down the hall. His first attempt involves an illegal poker game. The other participants think he is cheating and he ends up getting thrown off the roof. His fall is broken by a pile of laundry and he survives unharmed. Later, he buys a lottery ticket, wins, but throws the ticket away because he can’t get the money for 12 months and it will be too late by then. Apparently this luck also has certain karma rules associated with it because when someone grabs the winning ticket from the garbage he is almost immediately hit by a truck and killed. The episode continues in this manner…
Overall, I would give this episode 3.5/5 stars. Luck as an X-File seems a little bit out of place and the not completely explained karma rules that went along with it were also a bit of a stretch but it was still a very good episode overall. It was fun, humorous at times, and the guest actors were excellent.
