When Americans thought the war in Iraq was over and U.S. troops were brought home, the heat only got turned up again. Reports from PressTV reveal that somewhere around 3,000 troops have re-deployed to Iraq, and even reveal that 17,000 more could be in route. The thousands already re-stationed in Iraq are apparently camped out at Balad military garrison or the al-Asad air base.
PressTV explains, “Washington claims that the only US military presence left in Iraq now is 157 soldiers responsible for training at the US Embassy, as well as a small contingent of marines protecting the diplomatic mission.”
Besides the role of U.S. troops, there are also many CIA operatives still working inside Iraq. (Remember that the embassy that was installed for the U.S. is worth $1 billion.)
The redeployment would most likely come as a way to basket the spillage of violence coming from Syria as extremist groups move back and forth. This isn’t the first time sources have reported on redeployment in Iraq.
SLN published in the beginning of October that hundreds of Army Special Operations Forces were moving back into the country, “Just last week in the fifteenth paragraph of a New York Times article was indication that Iraq’s condition is only crumbling. With the redeployment of an Army Special Operations force, there could be more on the way, according to the Times.” The move was made after violence consistently remained at a high inside the region.
