This episode is one of the more light-hearted standalone episodes. A “Monster of the Week” episode but without the monster. The plot centers around a guy who appears to be able to control the weather and is charges large sums of money to farmers in order to make it rain. In a change of pace, both Mulder and Scully are at first skeptical. However, both witness this man apparently make it rain on demand.
This episode has everything from heart shaped hailstones to a flying cow. There is a lot of humor but it is not over the top and there is a real mystery here also. At the end, it turns out someone really is controlling the weather but it isn’t who you think it is.
I thought this was a very solid episode over all. The guest actors (particularly Victoria Jackson) all did a great job. Excellent use of humor and a fun mystery that was all wrapped up by the end. I would give this episode 3.5/5 stars.
