With the “The X-Files” revival on its way, many fans are clamoring for information on what their favorite characters have been up to after all this time. Now, new information has surfaced about the main characters of the show that some fans may not enjoy hearing.
It seems that after 22 years of chasing paranormal and alien cases for the FBI, Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) are no longer romantically involved when the six-episode event-series hits the Fox network. it’s been seven years since audiences last saw the duo in the 2008 film, “X-Files: I Want To Believe.” As CinemaBlend notes, in that movie, despite it not exactly being a fan-favorite, Mulder and Scully were a fully-functioning couple. The lived together and even kissed a few times.
According to E! Online, it’s unclear exactly what split the partners up or if that will even be addressed in the series. Creator Chris Carter seems less interested in the nuts and bolts of their relationship and more interested in what a breakup means for their dynamic as characters. Fans have seen Mulder and Scully work together as partners, friends and as a couple – but never as a exes.
