Digital Archaeology: Floppy Disk #10 – FOR212.DOC

A summary for those that haven’t been keeping up with this series:

I found a number of 5.25″ disks at a thrift store a number of years ago. I finally got around to acquiring a 5.25″ disk drive and extracting the contents a while back. Since then I have been posting the contents here.

Based on the contents, at least some of these disks were apparently once owned by someone named Connie who used to run the “Close Encounters” Special Interest Group (SIG) on Delphi in the mid 1980s.

A specific definition of this SIG was found in a document on one of the disks: “This SIG, known as ‘Close Encounters’, is a forum for the discussion of relationships that develop via computer services like the Source, CompuServe, and Delphi. Our primary emphasis is on the sexual aspects of those relationships.”

This service was text based and was accessed via whatever terminal program you used on your computer to dial in to Delphi’s servers. Many of these disks have forum messages, e-mails and chat session logs. All of this is pre-internet stuff and I don’t know if there are any archives in existence today of what was on Delphi in the 1980s. In any case, much of this stuff would have been private at the time and probably wouldn’t be in such archives even if they existed.

This post includes the contents of FOR212.DOC dated October 23rd, 1985. This appears to be a series of forum messages from the Close Encounters SIG (probably a buffer capture of a reading session). It contains messages from early October 1985. There are a variety of topics here ranging from fantasies to personal ads to theology and more.

See the previous post here.

If you are a female, have you ever wondered what it would be like if you could
order a male to do anything at all you wanted? Order him to please you in any
way you wished? Train him to meet your needs exactly?

If the answer is yes, please feel free to leave a note here or send me a note in

     sex
     From: JOHNMYSELF To: ALL

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the
earth from a great void. His creation was 'perfect'.

And then he made what can be considered his ONLY
mistake. In the midst of this perfection he created
a man and gave him free will. As if that were not
enough, He then created a woman, gave her to the man
and told them both to be 'fruitful and multiply'.

 In short "DO IT!"

There was only one law then - "don't eat from a certain
 tree".

 Sex was pure then; a new world to explore together;
 which they did.

     positions
     From: JOHNMYSELF To: ALL

The first people <according to the bible> were named
Adam and Eve. Together they walked in a beautiful
garden; talked with God himself; and made love.

Perhaps they used only the so called missionary
position. Scripture doesn't tell us that since it
really isn't central to the subject matter.

They probably did some experimenting though to
find out what worked and what made them 'feel' best.

Since them, entire books have been written on a host
of positions ranging from the 'missionary' to the
now famous '69' <for you oral fans> and a variety of
sitting, lying, and standing positions many of which
would probably defy the great Houdini himself.

Have you tried more than one position? If so, would
you be willing to share your experience with us? What
did (or didn't) you like about it (them)?

     some history <!--??-->
     From: JOHNMYSELF To: ALL

Since Adam and Eve, the world population has grown
tremendously. Ans so has the range of sexual
 positions and experience.

In 'ancient' times, so the Bible tells us <no i am not preaching - the bible just happens to be as full of sex and other things any media is one a little more familiar with> people experimented with
each other, in the usual mixed gender mode, groups, with
their own kind <homosexuals>, with 'toys', and with animals.

 Of these roles, the Bible only provides sanction for one;
that including one male and one female and provided they are
'married' <to each other of course>.

With the exception of toys, on which the the Bible is silent,
the others are all called 'abominations'. The early church
no doubt thought basically in terms of the ability to re-produce
children and maintain the home. But were there other equally
 valid considerations?

     considerations
     From: JOHNMYSELF To: ALL

As mentioned in the previous message, there are other
 considerations for avoiding certain personal/sexual
situations. In the case of non-marrieds, and
extra-marital relations, there is the possibility of
pregnancy and no one really able, or wanting, to raise
the child(ren) that would come of it; not to mention the
potential trouble when a jealous husband or wife might
discover that their partner has been 'playing around'.

In the case of homosexual relations, there could be no
children. Nor could animals mate with humans although
we have a great many legends and myths regarding the
half human, half beast product of such relations.

Today however, we know of other reasons for avoiding
certain things. Homosexuals <males anyway> are subject
to the now identified killer - AIDS. It is likely that
this existed back then too, but at that time they lacked
the necessary knowledge of disease and its causes.

It was easier to understand God's judgement on the wicked.
Some of the known venereal diseases <syphilis etal> can
be traced to man having sexual relations with animals.

Prostitution, the selling of sex for money or power in whatever
form, has also been proscribed for the same reasons in
addition to the fact that you can never be certain that one
will not pass on a disease picked up from one of their
 'patrons'.

<and to think that all adam had about was whether and how he could 'do it' with eve>

     Impotent?
     From: CABUYS To: ALL

This ad appeared in a local paper recently and I am reprinting it here for your
information, knowing that members of this sig will treat this with the respect
 it deserves.

The ad was published in the Sports section of the paper. There is a picture of
a man with the word "impotent?" printed over the picture in 1/2" size letters.
Then in much smaller print the ad reads as follows:

"The Definition: Impotence is the common term used to describe male erectile
 dysfunction.

The Myth: A widely help misconception is that most cases of impotence are
psychological in origin. Actually, over 50% of all impotence is caused by
 physical problems.

It's Common: Impotence is a far more common problem that most people realize.
An estimated ten million American men suffer from various forms of male sexual
 dysfunction.

It's Curable: Whatever the cause, impotence is treatable with an impressive
 rate of complete recovery.

At Daytona Beach General Hospital our team of physician specialists in male
sexual dysfunction have designed a comprehensive program of diagnosis and
treatment. The entire evaluation process will take from one to two and one-half
days. All testing and treatment are conducted in strictest confidence, total
privacy and in comfortable surroundings. The result is a return to a normal,
healthy, sex life. Major insurers and Medicare cover this program.

      Legal sex with minors!
      From: CABUYS To: ALL

This article appeared in our local paper recently and I'd like to hear your
 comments on it:

"Child molesters have organized groups to promote the notion that children of
any age should be allowed to have sex.

One of those is the North American Man/Boy Love Association in New York City.

'They need to know there are other people who have these feelings, that these
feelings are not bad or evil,' NAMBLA spokesman Bill Andriette said.

A pamphlet describes the group's goals: 'We advocate changing existing laws so
as both to protect young people from abuse and at the same time extend to them
the right, presently enjoyed solely by adults, to control their own bodies...

'We believe the state has no business enforcing a particular code of sexual
morality or breaking up a mutually consensual sexual relationship of any kind.
We demand the release of all our brothers and sisters incarcerated for
 consensual sex with minors.'

NAMBLA publishes newsletters, holds conventions and has an emergency defense
fund to defray legal costs for members arrested for child molesting.

Prison inmates who have been convicted of molesting or raping children are given
free memberships and subscriptions to NAMBLA publications.

Police estimate the group has 20,000 subscribers nationwide. Andriette said it
has only about 1,000 subscribers. He said he is not a pedophile but agrees with
pedophiles politically.

'It's a difficult issue,' Andriette said. 'Eight-year-olds are capable of
consenting to sex, just as they are capable of saying something feels good or
tastes good. The question obviously becomes more difficult as the person
 becomes younger.

'Children do have an idea of what sex is. Children should be taught to say no
in all situations they don't feel comfortable in. They should avoid coercive
situations and go along with situations that are pleasurable.'
But for an adult to force a child into a sexual act is wrong, he said.

'Clearly, a person who has intercourse with an infant, that's coercive. It's
not something where the child could easily express displeasure.'

But 2-year-olds, 8-year-olds and teenagers are capable of expressing what they
 want, he said.

'Some type of sexual interaction could be valid with a 2-year-old,' he said.
'It would be limited, but he can state whether an act is pleasurable or not.'"

A classic of the pop wisdom genre comes via sexual analyses from handwriting
 experts in Glamour magazine.

Be informed that well-rounded loops on letters "indicate erotic passion and
emotional warmth," loops that don't close "show unfulfilled sexual fantasies"
and loops that float to the left "indicate a man who needs mothering."

The implication here is clear: Before a first date, single women should demand
 a letter of introduction.

In case that sounds like so much faddish mumbo-jumbo to you, consider that more
than 2,000 American companies are making personnel decisions with the help of
 graphology.

Graphologist Barbara Harding says that by studying written strokes, a
professional can gain an insight into a person's personal traits, talents, and
 motivations.

"Handwriting is actually 'brainwriting.' The brain directs the nerves and
muscles of the writing process; the hand merely holds the pen."

     unethical sex not covered
     From: CABUYS To: ALL

Starting May 1, psychiatrists who indulge in sex relations with their patients
no longer have the malpractice insurance policy of the American Psychiatric
Association to cover their sexual misconduct.

For years, the APA's basic liability insurance policy said nothing about such
hanky-panky or experimental patient-doctor sex therapy. When patients sued or
threatened to sue on grounds of seduction, millions of dollars were paid in
 settlements.

In 1977, after studying 1000 therapists, Dr. Jean Holrody of UCLA revealed that
5.5% of them had engaged in sexual relations with clients. The American
Psychiatric Association has always regarded sex between psychiatrists and
patients as unethical. "It cannot be condoned under any circumstances," says
John Blamphin, information director of the APA, "and the association will no
longer offer insurance protection for any member-psychiatrist engaging in the
practice. No patient, male or female, should ever accept sex relations with his
or her psychiatrist as part of therapy."

Psychiatrists, on the average, pay an annual malpractice insurance premium of
$1000 - the lowest of any medical specialty.

I would, at this time, only make one comment that even the theologists will
admit and that is that of the many rules and laws revealed to man by God have
since been identified as probably protections extended to a race <man> that was
ignorant of so many things that it would take them thousands of years to learn,
discover, or believe so an omnipotent God gave man his laws to obey.

I personnally think there is a great more to it than just that but I believe
this factor to be true and I believe there are still many mysteries we are still
 too ignorant to understand!
