Narrative

BIOGRAPHY: Court proceedings show that Newman Glascock was charged with being his father. [Ref: Fleming County Court Order Book of "Bastard Cases", Book C, page 518]. Glascock was required to pay support for Thomas to Thomas's grandfather, David Blue, who adopted Thomas.
Thomas probably came to Indiana with his grandparents, David and Phoebe (WALLINGFORD) BLUE, in the late 1820’s
Indiana Patriot 7-29-1874: Tho. Blue of this county had on his farm this year two hundred acres of wheat which he thinks will make about 5000 bushels.
Rockville Tribune 4-15-1886: "Mr. Derrington, Mr. Cox, Tom Blue, Jr., Mrs. R. O. Jones, Mrs. Z. D. James, Mrs. Mag Laverty, Mrs. Wm. Amos, Mrs. Carrier and La Mon are on the sick list, and yet the Reporter says the general health is better than in any other town."
Montezuma Reporter 12-16-1887: "Notice: Mr. Thomas Blue wishes us to state to the people of Montezuma that their cows are a great annoyance to him and that he will take them up and damages will have to be paid before they get them."
DEATH: Rockville Republican 5-9-1888: "Mr. Thos. Blue, Sr., is very ill at his residence, with a complication of diseases. While some easier than some days ago his recovery is yet a matter of doubt."
Rockville Republican 5-16-1888: "The funeral services of Thomas Blue, who died last Monday evening, took place at the Methodist Church here on Wednesday afternoon, the venerable Rev. W. P. Cummings officiating. Mr. Cummings had long been a trusted friend of Mr. Blue and testified feelingly of the virtues of the deceased. The attendance of old friends was very large, the sad faces testifying of the esteem in which the deceased was held. His age was 72."
Montezuma Reporter 5-11-1888: "Mr. Thomas Blue, aged 72 years an old respected citizen living just south of town died at 6:30 on Monday evening. He contracted a heavy cold in the early Spring which settled on his lungs and was the cause of his death. Funeral services were held at the M. E. Church on Wednesday after which the remains were interred in Oakland Cemetery."
