Narrative
It is thought that William's first son would have been named Jeremiah based on the other children's names, but there is no proof. The family appeared to be close to Jeremiah Lewis who was named as an heir of William's estate. It is now known that Jeremiah is the younger brother of Sarah and purchased part of William's estate from her.
In the 1840 tax list for Buchanan Co, MO there was a Sarah Deshain. As she was listed in the tax list, it is assumed she was a widow. Could she have been Jeremiah wife? Was this Despain family on the way to Buchanan County to join their son when the father, William, died?
