It is possible that Thomas Payne is not the father of John Payne Sr...

"I thought you would like to know that Norman Payne has notified the Payne Family DNA Project coordinator to change Lineage #7 on the Payne DNA chart to read that the latest ancestor that he is sure of is John Payne, who married Sarah Ellis. The proven Flayl Payne line is Lineage #6 on the Payne DNA chart and Lineage 6 and 7 do not come close to matching."

the DNA from several men who descend from John Payne, who married Sarah ( Ellis ?) does not come close to matching the DNA of the proven Flayle Payne line. Norman Payne, who descends from John and Sarah, had his line removed from the Flayle Payne line. Norman has written a great book ,and we have worked together a lot over the years. We think that there may be a connection through an adopted, or illegitimate, child.
