GERALD FITZMAURICE who was summoned to Parliament as Baron Offaly in 1205 and died the same year; with his brother Alexander in the engagement in 1173 fought by his father, Earl Strongbow, Raymond le Grosse and Miles Cogan against O'Connor, King of Connaught; Chief Justice of Ireland; married Katherine, daughter of Hamo de Valois, Lord Chief Justice of Ireland in 1197.
