Neutopia II is an action/adventure/RPG released by Hudson Soft for the TurboGrafx-16 in 1992. The Neutopia series is very much like the original Legend of Zelda, so much so that it could be called derivative. While Neutopia II improves in many ways over Zelda and the first Neutopia (better graphics for instance), the gameplay and story are not quite as polished. However, if you like Zelda-like games then you will probably like both of the Neutopia games. Neutopia II teased a third entry in the series at the end but a Neutopia III was never developed.

The original releases of both Neutopia and Neutopia II were only for the TurboGrafx-16. However, both games were released on Nintendo’s Virtual Console for the Wii in 2007 and the PlayStation Network in 2011.

Deep Blue is another shooter released exclusively on the TurboGrafx-16. It was released by Pack-In-Video/NEC in 1990 (1989 in Japan). This style of game was even more popular in Japan than North America so it isn’t surprising to see a bunch of them on the TG-16. Uniquely, Deep Blue has a nautical theme in which the player controls an Angel Fish.

Given the rarity of the system and the relative obscurity of the game it won’t come cheap (though worst case you shouldn’t have to pay more than what it cost new) but for shooter fans it is another decent title to have. Again, I am not aware of any ports or re-releases so a TurboGrafx-16 or emulator is the only way to play it.
