The One was a computer and video games magazine published in the U.K. mainly in the early 1990s. While The One covered multiple systems at times, in 1991 it was concentrating on Amiga Games. The December 1991 issue includes:
- The Sneak Preview Disk – The cover disk includes the first mission of Double Dragon 3 and a complete level of Robocop 3.
- News – Ocean signs deal with Toys R Us to distribute their games. Head Over Heels, Ghostbusters 2 and RoboCop are among the first. Ocean acquires Addams Family license. Electronic Arts releases new version of Harpoon. Terminator 2 the top game this month. Commodore reduces price of CDTV…and much more.
- Profiles – A profile of Jez San, head of Argonaut who has worked on games such as Starglider, Starglider 2, Afterburner, Days of Thunder, Birds of Prey and ATAC. Also, a profile of Simon Harvey, a publicist who has been involved with F-19 Stealth Fighter, Star Wars Trilogy, Pacmania, SimEarth, X-Out, and Spitting Image. And one more profile, this one of Mev Ding, project manager of Vivid Image who has been involved with Hammerfist, The Time Machine and First Samurai.
- Letters – Letters from readers about Player Manager, older demos, fishing sims, game compilations, Xenon 2, flight simulators and more.
- Work in Progress – Previews of soon to be released games including Apocalypse and Space Crusade.
- It’s a Game Jim, But Not As We Know It… – Cover story feature on Star Trek: 25th Anniversary.
- Entertainment USA – A joint venture between Electronic Arts and Time Warner plus rumors of ‘The Machine’ which I think is what would become the 3DO.
- Ideal Compilation – Archer Maclean’s ideal compilation includes Star Raiders, Dropzone, Paradroid, Robotron, Defender, Star Gate, and Joust.
- Review – Reviews in this issue include Populous II, Double Dragon 3, Heart of China, Birds of Prey, 4D Sports Boxing, Devious Designs, Epic, First Samurai, Robocop 3, Shadow Sorcerer, Battle Isle, and Knights of the Sky.
