Bionic Commando, released in 1988, was one of the best platform games on the original Nintendo. It started life as a 1987 arcade game that was then ported to a number of home computers. However, the NES version was a much different game than these. It was ported to the Game Boy a number of years later in 1992 and while there were some stylistic changes, the gameplay and plot were very similar. Elite Forces, released in 1999 for the Game Boy Color, is a follow-up to this game though it isn’t really a true sequel.

Bionic Commando: Elite Forces shares many similarities with the previous games in the series but it adds a female character, new moves and a sniper rifle. Except for the ending, the events of the game are similar to the original NES version of the game. One other notable fact about this game was that it was developed as a first party game by Nintendo. Previous games in the series had all been developed by Capcom.

The Game Boy Color screen is not ideal to play games on in my opinion. Though better than the blurry mess of the original Game Boy, it is still leaves a lot to be desired. However, this is one of the best platform games on the Game Boy Color and a good game in general. Fortunately, this game was also released on the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console so this is probably the best way to play it.
