The system 5 and and XENIX 5 documentation list this but do not include it as an option that can be used with specific keys. This seemed absurd so I tried it (e.g., sort +1M -2 +3 -4 file) and it seems to work fine on XENIX 5. We publish a series of references for various UNIX flavors.
