As far as iam concerned, iam using a book called TROPICAL AQUARIUM FISHES.
It starts with a general idea about setting the tank, plants names and      
characteristics, fish disease (an overview) and other mics. Then it has nice
section about fish such as :
	Family name
	Distribution
	Possible length and tank length
	Diet
	Water temp.
	Living arrangments ( community or species )
	Other genral info about breeding
