Probably not. Pbm is only for monochrome square-pixel bitmaps. No colormaps, no non-square-pixels. This is deliberate, since the operations on more general pixmaps are nowhere near as easy to define. However, I think the model of one lowest-common-denominator format with a star-shaped network of format converters is a good one. If you are interested in making a "portable pixmap" package, I'd be glad to help. --- Jef Jef Poskanzer jef@lbl-rtsg.arpa ...well!pokey Limited time offer, call now to insure prompt delivery.
