Sorry to take so long to reply to this question ....


I have had simular errors before.  The problem is prob. not you
hardware.


Dos will use a disk if track 0 is bad.  You just cannot boot from that
disk (i.e.  Make said disk a system disk).  All it does is write the
track # to the FAT and lock out that track.  I know this is true for HD's,
but I'm sure it will work for floppy's too.
