further on my problem with query-replace-regexp and the time process
filter It can be fixed for this particular case by enclosing the
filter code in...


  (let ((md (match-data)))

    (store-match-data md))

which I found while grovelling thru replace.el. But the original
problem remains that the async lisp procedure can bugger things up.
