Sounds like administration from the Twilight Zone.... Now, just switch the roles a little... ------------------------------------------------------------------- Submitted for your approval: A man with a computer. His name known to many other computer-users as a regular on a so-called 'newsgroup' But one day, things went a little too far... "Pretzel Logic and Black Holes" I was about to start making dinner when the phone rang. Three steps and it was in reach. "Hello?" "Matt, it's Wendy." Odd. She sounded anxious. Couldn't be the date we had planned for tonight. "Right. What's wrong? You seem upset." "I'm at the Users Site. You better get here, fast. Too long to explain over the phone. But bad." "Yah. Give me 20 minutes." And she hung up. Whatever it was, it really set her on edge. A pulled on shirt, a quick drink of the Coke I had opened, and a short ride later brought me to the Users Site. Wendy sat at terminal 14, her favorite. Worry showed on her usually smiling face. She glanced up and saw me. "Look at this," she motioned. I scanned something from knoc@oddjob, the administrator at that site, on alt.config. Blah, blah, blah, creation of alt.sex, waitaminit.. "You see what I mean," Wendy noted. "I don't get it. He can't do this: 'I find the new group alt.sex in poor taste, and cannot see why I should have to deal with such wastes of bandwidth. I am therefore removing both alt.sex and soc.singles, the group that insists on whining about how they never get any. I encourage others to follow my lead.'" "Is there anything we can do?" asked Wendy with imploring eyes. [commercial break] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Well, netlanders, maybe you could help me end this story. = Does Matt get the return of his favorite newsgroup? = Does the administrator continue to cut groups until only those read by him exist? = Does Matt get his account cut for opposing the powers-that-be and standing up for his principles? Tune in next week and find out! [The preceeding story is true.
