This modem has pluses and minuses. It does have all the status lights, and
seems to be pretty Hayes compatible (though there may be some little kinks I
haven't found out about). It seems to function pretty well in general.

But, there are problems. It does get quite hot, so plan to put the modem in
a place where it won't overheat (I haven't been very nice to my modem and it
hasn't bit yet). Even when you turn the volume all the way downm, you can hear
the faint hiss of 1200 baud data (even with the ATM0 switch on). I consider
this a feature actually, because I can tell if I connect without watching
exactly whats going on, yet it doesn't annoy other people around. It also has
a bad habit of playing over its speaker whatever is going on on the phone line.
You can't hear what someone is saying, but you can tell when they are talking.
This happens even when the bloody thing is turned off!! Must be drawing some
current from the phone line...

So, I would say it is an okay modem, and the two I have had contact have not
died for a total log time of 3 years. DAK is usually pretty nice about orders
and stuff. So, if you want 1200/300 baud, I'd say go for it.
