Message-ID: <1240@runx.ips.oz> Date: Thu, 26-Nov-87 21:23:29 EST Article-I.D.: runx.1240 Posted: Thu Nov 26 21:23:29 1987 Date-Received: Mon, 30-Nov-87 01:44:12 EST Organization: RUNX Un*x Timeshare. Sydney, Australia. Lines: 26 I archived a user's directory to magtape about a year ago, using BACKUP/VERIFY /CRC, and now he wants it back. I used two separate tapes, (2400' 1/2"), but now when I try to restore or look at them I get this; $ BACKUP/LIST MTA0:/SAVE_SET Listing of save set(s) %BACKUP-F-LABELERR, error in tape label processing on MTA0:[000000].; -SYSTEM-F-PARITY, parity error $ Has anybody got any ideas as to what I can do to get at the data? Both tapes give the same error. Field Service engineer suggests that the amplitude of the signal has decreased (meaning the tapes have forgotten I gather). Probably not alignment (It's a TU77) because the head was aligned just before the archive and only recently too. Please reply by MAIL if you can tell me what choices I have for restoring the data.
