Hi,

I was just wonding if anybody out there has experimented using the
pcal in /etc/fixes. I have version 3.51. The pcal stuff seems to
be intact and runnable-- at least so far! Pcal is pretty neat, so
it puzzles me why AT&T is keeping it secret.

Anyone know if /etc/fixes/pcal is any different from the teaser
they offer in exchange for sending in the warranty card?

For the heck of it I installed pcal in my user agent office menu.
If you want to do it, here's how:

Following the lead in /etc/fixes/.fixedlist, I linked the stuff to
the correct directories. I suppose you wouldn't have to... Of
course, su to root before attempting to link.

ln /etc/fixes/pcal /usr/bin/pcal
ln /etc/fixes/pcal.hlp /usr/lib/ua/pcal.hlp

Next, make it show up in the ua office. Concatenate the folloing
lines to the bottom of /usr/lib/ua/Office. The outdented lines are
continuations of the lines above. All the line start in column 1.
I can't think of any better way to show this on the net:

  Name=Personal Calendar
  Defualt = Run
  Run=EXEC -d /usr/bin/pcal $LOGNAME $LOGDIR
  Help=EXEC -d /usr/bin/uahelp -h /usr/lib/ua/pcal.hlp -t "Perso
nal Calendar"

If you really want to get fancy, you might want to edit
/usr/lib/installed/CONTENTS to show that you have "installed" pcal.
Installed software is also recorded in /usr/lib/ua/Showsoft.menu.
Follow the examples in those files.

Happy Holidays,
  ll

Of course, when you put the scalpel to the software-- try at your
own risk!
