I experienced the same frustration you are now going through
about two years ago. At the time I talked to Jeff Porter at
CBM (the engineer responsible for the 1670 modem), he was
sympathetic, but in the end was no help. I found a program
called microVT, which is written by the same person that wrote
vt100-128, works slightly better -- it is public domain. In the
end I switched to using MEX in the CP/M mode. MEX is also
public domain -- both programs are available on QuantumLink.

MEX requires a slightly modified adm31 termcap/terminfo file.
I have been using MEX for about twenty months, it is slow in
handling backspacing and sometimes messes up the screen, but
other than that it works well.

If you would like a copy of my termcap or terminfo file for
MEX, please let me know. Also, if you find a terminfo/termcap
file that works with vt100-128 I would appreciate you sending
me a copy.
