I have an application which runs as a detached process and logs
messages to SYS$OUTPUT. I would like to be able to look at this
file while the application is running. The most straightforward way to
invoke the program: RUN/DET/OUT=FILE APPLICATION, results in FILE
being exclusively opened by APPLICATION and thus I am unable to TYPE
or DUMP FILE. Using various combinations of DCL OPEN to pre-open FILE
as shared does not seem to work.

Can anyone suggest a simple way to do what I want?
