I'm new to this newsgroup, so pardon me if this has already been asked (probably several times by now :). I am looking for a micro for the following reasons: 1) smart terminal (vt100, tek/4010, etc.) 2) GAMES!, and more games .... 3) Word processing (small time electronic publishing) 4) small programming tasks (C, Pascal, assembly, etc.) I would like to know the advantages/disadvantages of the Amiga family (500, 1000, 2000) and the C=128/64 family. I could ask my local C= dealers, but I'm tired of all the salesman hype. Also, I don't want to buy a system, and find any *extra* suprises in the software (ie, "Oh, to use that disk drive we just sold you, you need to by this, ... and this, ... and ..."); I presume many of you went through some sort of decision making process, and have already gotten met any bugs that may be lurking out there. If you suggest a particular system (with justifications PLEASE), give me the mininum configuration you feel is necessary (ie, memory, #-disks, hard disk?, type of printer, modem & software suggestions, etc.). I guess what I'm really asking is "What are the add on's that I _really_ need when starting off?" Please E-mail me the responses, and I'll summorize and re-post. Thanks in advance for your help. -lance- lmurray@ford-wdl1 {sun, ucbvax, hplabs}!wdl1.uucp!lmurray /* if necessary, my number is (415)-852-7494, but ONLY if you can't reach me via E-mail (this is in the San Francisco bay area) */ /* #include*/
