First, I hope you have manuals with the Z-100. You must find out
what kind of machine you have. At the 'hand' boot prompt, enter
V for version, S for system.

You must have version 2.5 or higher (2.9 current). If you have
1.x, then S won't work.

You can expand your Z-100 into something VERY powerful. For a start:

Boot Monitor 2.9 (2.5 is mimimum to function properly with current software)
768K RAM (or higher)
192K Video RAM (2 page color or 640x525x8)
You MUST obtain a copy of MS-DOS for the Z-100, Z-DOS (MS-DOS V1) is
now obsolete, and totally unsupported. MS-DOS V3 for the Z-100 (MUST
specify Z-100) is available from Heath, Zenith, etc.
Z-BASIC is also obsolete, GW-BASIC V2 for the Z-100 is much faster and
more powerful.

I am working on a Z-100 UpGrade Series on INFO-HZ100 (slowly).

the INFO-HZ100 PD LIB is on SIMTEL20.ARPA by ANONYMOUS FTP in PD1:
It requires MS-DOS V2 or higher and GW-BASIC V2 or higher.

Most Z-100's run at 8MHz also. 768K and Heath's ZPC V2 will allow
the Z-100 to run almost all IBM-PC programs (and faster too). This
is a software emulator for $40-60 from Heath.

Cheers,
Gern
