I am compiling the results of my Bitnet character translation test
and will present a complete picture by the end of the week, I hope.
I received a large number of responses and I thank everyone who
took the time to mail back a copy. Some preliminary comments, as
suspected, there appears to be more of a problem with Bitnet-->Internet
translation errors. Why this is, I do not know at present. Thanks
also go out to the net gurus who helped me get a Topological map of
the Bitnet. This should aid in piecing together the puzzle. Just
a quick note to those who are wondering what the offensive characters
are; while many showed up at a site or two, the biggest offender
is the "^" circumflex / up arrow which a lot of mailers ate, and
either didn't substitute anything or just put in a Ctrl-H character.
