I agree that late January or early February would be best for Amherst and Wolfe Islands. We've had an astonishing invasion of Snowy Owls this fall--50 were counted at the dump a few weeks ago and I had 10 visible at one time in my binoculars on Saturday. There are now about 100 Common Black-Headed Gulls overwintering at a lake in town along with 3 Eurasian Widgeon.I had 7 species of Gulls while driving into work this morning---Herring,Great Black-Backed,Ring-Billed,Iceland, Glaucous,Mew,Black-Headed.Some days,Lesser Black-Backed is also there.
