I have a new IIgs with the same problem. I have a 3.5" drive connected to the smart port and a 5.25" drive daisy chained to the 3.5". An Image Writer II in port 1 and a Hayes 2400 smart modem in port 2. The clicking i hear comes from the 5.25" drive while I am in the finder; the frequency of this occurence is about 2 or 3 times a second. The frequency is much greater during disc swaps using fast copy. I also hear strange noises while opening a file in a session with MULTISCRIBE GS. I am interested in communicating with anyone concerning this (including APPLE) and am also interested in the responses to the original message. Excuse me if I mess anything up , I am very inexperienced with this NETWORK-- My home phone is (303) 499-0314 and work is (303) 497-1344.
