Isn't that what Assign is for?

I'd be more interested in a symbolic (late binding) Assign. I'd like to be
able to do things like "assign include: Aztec:include" in my startup sequence
without it asking me to insert Aztec: then & there. Right now assignments
are handled by throwing around locks on directories. An alternative that
would let you not bind an assignment until it's actually used (OK to turn
it into a lock then, though) would be a benefit.
