Summary: Write DIGITAL. Complain, beg, bitch Keywords: Keep you eyes open for NEW Rainbow products... Message-ID: <30@ritcv.UUCP> Date: 16 Dec 87 03:02:43 GMT Reply-To: iav1917@ritcv.UUCP (alan i. vymetalik) Organization: Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester, NY Lines: 43 Fellow Rainbow users: The word out of the just-completed DECUS at Anaheim, CA suggests that DEC is REALLY considering sub-licensing MS-DOS 3.10 to "an interested and stable third-party company." It seems DEC has already paid for 3.10 A LONG TIME AGO but has, of course, not released it to the public, officially (there are bootleg copies floating around). The problem is mainly one of support (and royalities, I'll bet). DEC is looking for a company to support the product: it'll be out of DEC's hands at that point! One of the companies brought up in conversation is Jerry Miller's Suitable Solutions company (the one that brings you the ClickClock chip for the Rainbow and markets many programs like CodeBlue and SpeedCache for the Rainbow). Keep up the letters and the calls. DEC needs to here from you. Oh, by the way, for those of you interested. One of the items that showed up at the DECUS show was an 80286 Replacement Processor board for the Rainbow! 10Mhz board for about $500-$600! From Suitable Solutions. NOTE: I HAVE NO AFFILIATION WITH DEC, DECUS (I WAS), OR SUITABLE SOLUTIONS (I HAVEN'T EVEN TALKED WITH JERRY MILLER) SO I GAIN NOTHING FROM THIS POSTING. THEY GET FREE ADVERTISING.
