I would say that this statement is NOT correct.  On the 2-Meg upgrade kit
from Apple is a little chart indicating what combinations of 1-meg SIMMS
can be placed in Plus', SE's, and II's.  The same part number, M0219, is
used in the exact same manner for both the SE and the Plus. There is a 
separate chart for the the Mac II, but there is no mention that the SIMMS
will not work in a Plus.  I also just received my 2-meg upgrade from
MacProducts.  It came with installation instructions for both a PLus and
and SE, which would seem to indicate that I could have used the upgrade
in a Plus instead of my SE.

Perhaps Apple would rather you buy and SE?
