This isn't as clean as it could have been (at least on the MACH system here). If I've gotten this correctly, /../.. is the "real" superroot, with bin, lib, etc, dev, and all the boot paraphernalia. /../../RFS (aka /..) is the RFS "mount" point for other hosts, as in "/../host". /../../RFS/.LOCALROOT is "/". /bin, /lib, /dev and /etc are all patched into /../.. using hard links, which can really be confusing: % cd /../.. % pwd /../.. % cd bin % pwd /bin And people complained about slinks.
