I'm helping my younger brother out with a C compiler for a Xmas present ...

Unfortunately, I know little about the world of 520 STs. Could anyone
out there please give any advice on the available C compilers. I have
seen Lattice available at one of the local stores (published by METACOMO),
it's a familiar name from PC land, but who are there METACOMO folks?
Does this one work, are others better (for a student programmer at college,
interested in programming and capable for a freshman).

Another issue is that his current machine has but a single floppy. Is it
even practical of compile/link with a single floppy drive? I've done it
on PCs but ....

What about the world of hard drives? The local establishment had an Atari
20 meg model available for $670 .... this seems like too much for a
"consumer grade" 20 meg hard disk these days ... Is this an acceptable
drive (reliability, speed, etc. ) or are other choices available ....

While we're at it, any good game selections .......

Thanx for any help .......
