Considering two attributes of the BackPac 40, I don't think that it
can be used anywhere but a Mac Plus.  Because:

  1) It needs a SCSI interface to run...and only the Mac Plus and
      the Mac SE have the SCSI in the right physical location.

  2) It mounts on the back of the Macintosh...which blocks the fan
      exhaust vent in the Mac SE.

(And before anyone points this out, I know that these comments may not
 apply to third party upgrades.  I'm only talking about 'official'
 Mac configurations).
