Is there a way to reject un-wanted cross-posted news items ?
For example, I receive comp.sys.ibm.pc, so a guy posts an item and
distributes it to comp.sys.ibm.pc, comp.sys.tandy, comp.sys.att, etc.
So as a result, I get all these groups/directories created on my machine.
I guess my first question is..how does the news software distribute these
items ? Is a single article received and then posted locally to all the
different groups, or am I receiving individual postings for each group
that the distribution is made to ? If I configure a rejection to
comp.sys.tandy in my /usr/lib/news/sys file, is that going to stop a
cross-posted news item from being created. Im hooked to my news feed
via Tymnet and dont want to be paying for the groups I am not subscribed
to. I have a limited number allowed in the SYS file of the host but this
doesnt seem to stop the cross-postings. Thank.
