I bet you'de flame him as well. I don't know if they thought he was crazy, but they certainly thought he was wrong. Which he was. Not because he believed the earth was round; that was already common knowledge among educated people. But his "small-earth-large-india" theory was very wrong, and he probably would have died at sea if he hadn't had the dumb luck to stumble onto an unexpected continent.
