I have a number of different computers and software applications and wonder
if anyone on the net knows of a panacea solution.

We have about 230 UNIX terminals scattered over PDP-11/70 and 3B20S processors.
We plan to add users over the next few years and expect the number of users
to double for UNIX.

We have a couple of VAX-11/780 processors that are utilized fully for
integrated circuit design and circuit board design applications. These
machines run the BTL Integrated Circuit Design Aids and SCI-CARDS.
The DEC VMS operating system is used here.

In addition we are wanting to add the capability to run ANSYS, NASTRAN
and UNIGRAPHICS CAD/CAM tools on equipment yet to be purchased.

I want to know if there are any large computers in use that have
been successful in serving all of the above users simultaneously on the same
host with good user response time. If so, I want to compare the centralized
solution with our decentralized solution to determine which is better.
