The hiccup cure which works by running around the house three times without
thinking of the word "wolf" doesn't (necessarily) work. How do I know? When
my wife was struck by hiccups, I suggested that she run three times around
the house. After she did this, she still had hiccups. I asked her if she
had thought of the word "wolf" while running; she assured me that she
hadn't.

Empirical science marches on!
