Here's a problem I've encountered; has anyone seen it? We're running an
old version of Gosling's Emacs, so this may have been fixed..

Whenever I issue an re-replace-string from the top of the buffer,
replacing a SINGLE CHARACTER with an EMPTY STRING, the window is
only updated for the first occurrence. The next operation that
causes the window to update will complete the changes on the screen.
