I have a 1979 Rabbit which ran horribly for the second six months I
owned it. It would buck and jerk, etc. I took it back several times to
the dealer who could find nothing wrong with it. Then, just after the
warranty ran out, at the end of the first year, the fuel pump quit
working altogether. Since then it's been doing a lot better, but I put
fuel additive in it every now and then.

I must have missed some of the articles on this topic. What was the "recall"
mentioned by Jim Heliotis. Did it have to do with fuel pumps or what?
