In response to the question about the asteroid/ship Yonada, the same
scene was used the the episode "The Paradise Syndrome" in which Kirk
is married to the daughter of the Indian Chief. Spock had assumed
command in Kirk's absence and crippled the Enterprise in an attempt
to destroy the asteroid. He then limped back the the planet on impulse
power some 7 hours ahead of the asteroid where he was able to activate
the deflector mechanisn left by the super race that had planted the
Indians there in the first place. Kirk was going to be a daddy when
his wife was killed.
