Well, not to put words in Prudence's mouth, but the McCarthy "inventigation"
was run with a court atmosphere (albeit kangaroo), so they looked
like trials, even though honest people were automatically condemned, and by
a body that had no statuatory powers.

As far as what historians will think of AAP, I doubt if they'll
be that ignorant. That's why they will equate AAP with McCarthyism,
slavery, and discrimination. After all, anyone can see that the
root idea of AAP is discrimination, even though they might not like
to admit it. What I doubt that US historians of the 21'st century
will do, however, is admit just how destructive and counterproductive
AAP was. (And, given the current shortsighted gimme/gratifyme attitude of the
electorate, still will be.) I doubt that they will say such things because
I doubt that they will be allowed to say such things. After all, as this
newsgroup's name proves, there's nothing quite as incendiary as the naked
truth.
