Sic does NOT stand for "Spelling is Correct". Have you forgotten your
high school Latin? (Is there anyone still out there who took high school
Latin?)

Sic is the Latin word for "thus". Used with a quote, it indicates that
the word[s] quoted appeared exactly as quoted, even though incorrect.
