Phila., PA. 19104 We're getting a VAX 11/780 in this summer and I need help talking my professor into putting UNIX on it over VMS. I'm running Berkeley 2.8 UNIX on a PDP 11/23 now. My prof. likes VMS for: 1 - DEC SUPPORT 2 - Engineering Software 3 - DECNET - Lots of PDP's here under RSX,RT11 4 - Ability to give curtain users priority of others? Is this true, can bsd4.2 do this? 5 - Graphics for VS-11, getting Template. Will this run under UNIX without too much modifications? He has some good points here, can anyone help me with arguments in favor of UNIX bsd4.2? I heard you may be able to run both VMS and UNIX at the same time? Is this full UNIX bsd4.2, does it take alot of disk, are there any advantages/disadvantages? Has anyone gone through the same experience? As you say here "Thanks in Advance" Saint Nick (presby!nick) PS. This is my first article, I hope I did it right!
