Matt, I much prefer dancing to the typical movie date.  Which would
you rather do for 2 hours, watch a movie screen or talk and dance 
with your date?  Isn't the purpose of a date to get to know the other
person?  This is hardly accomplished by sitting like a zombie for
two hours in a movie theater.
  
A good place to go dancing(ballroom) in the Chicago area is the 
Melody Mill 
to be older, everyone seems to be friendly.  It is certainly not
a meat market.
