The story is that many of the older DEC UNIBUS devices weren't designed to the proper tolerances, or with enough buffering, or whatever. Note that it is almost always the RK05s or TU10s that choke -- systems with two or more foriegn controllers usually don't show problems with the foriegn units but with the DEC units.
