There are two big problems with sticking with first names. The first is
societies inability to not flinch when someone young calls someone old by
their name instead by their title (how many of you called your first grade
teacher 'Mary'?). The second is business correspondence where you might not
know they gender of the person you are writing to, and therefore default to
the (arbitrary and sexist but) traditional 'Mr. Foo').
