A little while ago I posted a message telling about my problem with
putting an old AST Combo Card on a new PC. The day after posting that
message, I called AST and explained my problem. The person was both
knowledgeable and sympathetic; he said that others had had the same
problem and that all I needed to do was send the board to them and
they would either fix or replace it for me, free of charge. Within
a week and a half after I mailed it, it was delivered back to me,
working fine. It came back so fast, it beat the return receipt
postcard by a day.

In short, this experience with AST and previous dealings with them have
shown me that AST has customer support that is uncommon among new
computer companies. The net is a good forum for voicing complaints
about bad treatment by computer firms, but I think to be fair I should
recommend buying from AST research.
