OK, since you asked I'll tell you how I stopped the cop for tailgating.
It was getting dark after a long day skiing; I was driving home down
this narrow two-lane road at the posted 55mph limit. The Nth car that
day pulled up too friggin' close and I got mad; didn't know it was an
unmarked cop car! So, I did the usual things -- tapped the brakes and
horn; no luck, so I slowed down *fast* to get his "attention"; still no
luck. We came to a four-lane section and I moved over to let the moron
pass, but he changed lanes too. I moved back and so did he, and then
again, and again, about five times.

Now, I started to sweat it -- was this guy going to get violent? I was
actually relieved when the red lights went on! The cop pulled me over
for "doing 35 in a 55 zone and driving erratically".

To make a long story short, I chewed out the cop (politely as I could
manage, with the adrenalin flow) and he was so flabbergasted he
apologized  and  never  mentioned  a  citation.  I put  him  in a  bind;
everything I did was a reasonable response to his unsafe driving!!

So, you better not tailgate ME, next time I might not be so nice!
