Here in Oregon, a law has been passed (goes into effect in about 2 weeks) which
BANS smoking in public places, restaurants, auditoriums, etc. Smoking sections
in restaurants will be allowed, but there must be 4 feet of buffer space between
the non-smoking and smoking sections. There are exceptions (of course) and I
am a bit foggy on the details, but it is a great stride forward. Unfortunately
it does not ban smoking in workplaces not generally open to the public, so the
cigarettes and pipes will continue to gross me out. Maybe the woman that
smokes in the bathroom during her break will cease and desist however.
