I've been told I'm a "nice guy." Unfortunately, some of the
things that make me that "nice" also end up making me
feel pretty bad. I happen to be attracted to intelligent,
forceful women with a sense of humor and imagination. (I also
like nice legs, but I'm flexible.) Anyhow, when I get involved
with someone I encourage her to be all she wants to be --
I encourage grad school or reaching for that better job, I
am willing to take second place to studies and meetings.
Of course, I expect the same in return.

The problem is, those intelligent, forceful women end up
fearing that staying too close to me will hinder their
plans. No real reasons for that, just "a feeling."
And, being a "nice guy" means you respect their feelings.
So they move out of my life.

Do I become less "nice" or do I lower my standards? I'm
really not interested in either, thank you. Any other
"nice guys" out there with this kind of problem?
