'sic' is NOT Latin for 'thus'.  It is short for a Latin phrase meaning
"thus it was written".  It is normally used to indicate that the spelling
(or grammar) you are using is that way because the author you are quoting
from wrote it that way.  This is normally done when first author made
a mistake.
