You state that people making these machines can not be pround of their work. While it's true that the Atari looks very nice inside and shows a lot more thinking in the software department than other systems (mind you, there are some real botches in the Atari and others), I don't see how it can be claimed that the designers of the Vic can't be proud of their work. They put together a fairly simple computer that can be built for peanuts.
