Some people say you can hear the "pumping" on dbx. Actually the best bet would probably be no Dolby or dbx at all, on a good deck with either Type II or Type IV tape, for minimal high-frequency distortion. I`ve copied CD`s on my Sony TCFX-66 with UCX-S, Dolby C, or no Dolby, with results that are better than anything else I`ve ever heard on a cassette deck, pre-recorded or home-recorded. The dynamic range on the CD`s requires the recording level to be quite a bit lower than would be OK for recording from radio or LP, so the quiet sections on the CD do sound a little hissy. But, those CD`s so far released have precious few quiet sections anyway. Jeff
