Who said anything about moral values? I'm looking out for number one in the most basic way possible: I'm trying to avoid dying in a car accident. The fact that other people may not get to exercise their right to kill me in an accident under the 55 law bothers me not at all; in that sense I'm probably immoral. And I don't see what the 55 law has to do with Falwell -- Falwell probably believes we should drive on freeways at the speed the Good Lord made them to be driven at, anyway. Seems to me that right-wingers like Falwell should be on the anti-55 side because speed limit laws constitute the infringement of Big Government on the rights of the individual. (Yes, he has a double standard.) As for vigilantism -- what is a pro-55 vigilante supposed to do? Get in front of a Lincoln in his B-210 and put the brakes on? Don't make me laugh. I can't substitute for the police and wouldn't if I could. (Boy this is fun! And I haven't even tried abortion, school prayer, drugs, affirmative action, nuclear power, the arms race or Unix vs. VMS! Now I see what Tim Maroney and Andy Tannenbaum have been having fun at all this time... Gadflyism.) Donn Seeley UCSD Chemistry Dept. RRCF ucbvax!sdcsvax!sdchema!donn
