(FROM THE U OF I CYBER 175:)

(INTERPERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS) RESPONSE 10 05/27 11:06 BY HILL BARB
In regard to the earlier respondent who didn't like to drink and
so was wondering where to take a young lady on a first date, I
would suggest that even if you liked to drink, a bar is probably
not the best place for a first date anyway. Why not ask her out
for lunch? You could even brown-bag it out on the quad, and then
(in regard to the original questioner) you could fool all those
other "lonely people" into thinking you're a real couple, eh?
Kidding aside, lunch is probably the best choice for a first date
as it is a more relaxing atmosphere -- that is, going to a bar tends
to emphasize the sexual nature of the encounter and can be very
anxiety laden for both people, but at a lunch there is more of
a chance to get to know each other as individuals first. Going
out for coffee and doughnuts in the morning, or an ice cream in
the afternoon are other similar suggestions. You can probably
think of many other similar ones if you try.
