Lauren really lambasted WarGames. I could handle it up until
the last few lines where he said he had been fuming about the
movie ever since a friend told him about it. That was a pretty
long flame for not having seen it in person. Admitted, as I told
my non-computer-scientist friends (I was in Florida at the time),
that most of it was just made up and that a standard university
Multics was more secure than the WOPR. But lasers only leave
trails in dusty rooms and you can't hear explosions in space,
and Movie commits N other sins against science and we say,
"Oh, yeah, well, it's okay." Give the movie a break and at
least go see it if you want to murder it. It was very entertaining,
and the characters (human) were likeable, too. Sorry, I'll
flame off now.
