Yes, but would you rather have them be able to selectivly change
it rather than just bash it?  With read permissions turned off, you
can't edit the file to change things, all you can do is write a whole
new one...  I think I (if I were worried about such things) would rather
my mail file be just bashable rather than readable, changeable, AND
bashable.
