My two favorites come from the BSTJ special issue.

First one is in the article on the "typo" program.
It contains sample output, which shows a list of
possibly misspelled words.  Each actual typo is indicated
by a symbol in the shape of a little hand shadow with
a pointing finger.  The caption says: "... the actual
errors have been marked by hand."

I forget where the other one is, but it talks about
the fact that certain characters have particular meaning
to the system, such as #, @, and so on.  It then says:
"If one of these special characters is preceded by
a backslash, it loses its special character."
