                     Systems Programmer
                   University of Waterloo

Applications are invited for the position  of  systems  pro-
grammer for the Maple project.  Maple is a symbolic computa-
tion system being developed at the University  of  Waterloo.
Job  responsibilities include:  implementing improvements to
the Maple language and system, porting code  to  68000-based
microprocessors,  suggesting  and  designing enhancements to
functionality of Maple.  Most program development occurs  on
a  Vax  11/780  system  running  Berkeley  Unix.  The system
implementation language is a BCPL-derivative, similar  to  B
or  C.   Experience  with such types of programming environ-
ments, as well as prior  experience  with  computer  algebra
systems, is desirable.

Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications ($20K
and up).
