A stiff stick, is a small post (about an inch long and 3/16" in diameter) that extends from a keyboard. It has little if any travel. As you press on it, it generates a variable X-Y signal (voltage? resistance?) proportional to the pressure exerted on it in the X-Y directions. I've seen these on certain DoD (read: wierd homebrew looking things that are useless for any real applications) computer terminals (Designation AN/FYQ-67). -Ron
