I have been considering buying or building a synthesizer for a while.
Does anyone know:
1) If you can save money by building one yourself?
2) Where I can find circuits (I'm not an electrical engineer, but can
put stuff together, or work with logic chips and the like)?
(I've seen some articles in something like Pop. Elec., but would
      like a complete circuit.)

I'm interested in a polyphonic synthesizer with 4 or more voices.
I don't need too many knobs to play with as long as I can make a
reasonable variety of sounds (better than an average organ).
Compatibility with a sequencer that I could add later would be
nice.
