Because gas was expensive, a lot of people drove less. The lives saved was proportional to the number of drivers, NOT THE SPEED LIMIT. Now that gas has not all gone away (and remember when there was going to be no gas in 1985?) people are driving again. And getting killed. And it is still proportional to the number of drivers. And in Ontario, where they lowered the speed limit with metrification without telling anybody there was no appreciable difference in lives saved. AND STATISTICS LIE AND YOU ARE BEING CONNED OFTEN BY PEOPLE WHO HAVE BEEN CONNED THEMSELVES. This is net.flame. I dont have to post my figures. Get your own for your state/province and run your own curve-fit prgm, courtesty any physics department if you dont already have one. I am pissed off at being lied to by damn fools with lots of statistics and no brains and inadequate research! (this scortching enough for those who dont want serious discussions in net.flame? If not, piss off!) Laura
