Whether or not the speed limit is raised, there should
be some kind of law or restriction stating that the
applicant for a driver's license HAS to take an extensive
driver's ed course before applying. As of four years
ago when I got my license, this was what the DMV test
in Norwich, CT. consisted of:
A three (3) mile drive down Route 82 (which is
mostly 30 - 35 mph, basically country, some
	  traffic)
A three point turn on a side road
A three mile drive back to the DMV
Backing the car into the parking space
As long as you wore your seatbelt, didn't slam on the
brakes, used your turn signal, and used the correct foot
on the brake (now, how many people that drive automatics
use the correct foot?) you passed your test. Is that really
a driving test? I never took driver's ed or anything like
that until about 3 months later when I started taking the
defensive and performance driving classes. How many of you
people feel comfortable out there knowing that a person with
virtually no experience (besides taking their parents cars
out once in a while so they know the basics) is out there on
the roads? I'm not. As a matter of fact, it scares me to
death!

And it's little things about most drivers that bother me. On
my way back from CT. this past Sunday, I almost got killed
(well, I should say almost had a few accidents...anger makes me
exaggerate a little) because of other careless people.

I HATE PEOPLE THAT DO NOT USE THEIR TURN SIGNALS (or blinkers,
if you prefer) WHEN CHANGING LANES OR MAKING TURNS!!! These
people should be tarred a feathered! I mean, people that just
whip into the lane in front of you with no warning just have
no consideration for anyone but themselves. And usually the
people in the car get a good laugh when you stomp on the brakes
and lean on the horn because THEY were the ones that didn't
signal.

I HATE PEOPLE THAT CUT OVER TWO OR MORE LANES WHEN JUST COMING
ON FROM THE ENTRANCE AND ARE NOT DOING AT LEAST THE SPEED LIMIT!
I had a Toyota do that to me on the Garden State Parkway up
around the 150's or 160's (the exit numbers). She came on the
highway from the entranceway and proceeded to pull over to the
far left lane WITHOUT EVEN LOOKING! And I know she didn't look
because she almost slammed me into the cement divider.

I HATE LANE HOPPERS THAT DO 90 MPH!
I HATE TAILGATERS THAT KEEP ON YOU EVEN WHEN THERE IS A TRAFFIC
JAM OR 15 CARS IN FRONT OF YOU AND THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO
ABOUT IT!
I HATE PEOPLE THAT GO 45 MPH IN THE MIDDLE LANE!
I HATE ALL INCONSIDERATE DRIVERS!

Ahem...sorry to get so violent, but I had to get this out of
my system before I go back up next weekend (oh, god, 4th of
July weekend...this should be fun...)

I also think that EVERYONE should be tested yearly, not just
senoir citizens or teenagers. And it should be a thorough
testing, not just a three mile drive!
