- BIOGRAPHY: Teacher in Gary, Indiana schools; graduated from Rockville High School and Oxford College in Ohio.
DEATH: ROCKVILLE - Lucile B. Royse, 100, of Rockville died at 5:20 a.m.Monday, Feb. 3, 1997, in her residence. She was a teacher in the Chicago (Ill.) School system for 33 years, where she also did work with the Child Study Department. She was born Jan. 9, 1897, in Greene Township, Parke County, to J.R. Burks and Laura Payton Burks. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Royse, in 1970. Survivors include one daughter-in-law, Sarah Royse of Decatur, Ga.; one sister, Eleanor Carter of Rockville; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by one son, Robert Royse, in 1990; and one brother, Paul Burks. She graduated from Rockville High School, Western College in Oxford, Ohio, and received her master's degree from Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill. She was a member of United Methodist Church and Methodist Service Circle. Graveside services are 11 a.m. Thursday in Rockville Cemetery, with the Rev. Jack Steele officiating. There is no visitation. Barnes Mortuary assisted with arrangements.
