nhappy daughter" Mary. Son John named trustee of £200 desig
nated for support & maintenance of dau Mary. Proved 18 Oc
t 1785 by John Poage & John Dunlap.

Robert Bratton settled in Orange County, Virginia, now Augu
sta. He owned 2,284 acres. hewas the Captain of the militi
a in the French and Indian War 1756-1758; also amemeber o
f the Council of War for the protection of the Virginia fro
ntierin 1756. He still served as Captain of the militia i
n 1783 even though he was70 years old. DAR 0436

t he was given orders to fill up his company with recruit
s for the Snow Campaign from York County, South Carolina.

f the Lewis-Patton plots on Big Calf Pasture, a large estat
e willed to son Adam Bratton in his will May 10, 1873.
On Mar 20, 1755 Robert Bratton qualified for his Commissio
n as Captain of the militia at age 43. 6 days later Gen Edw
ard Braddock's 44th and 49th Foot Regiments landed at Alexa
ndria as the French and Indian War opened the Virginia fron
t. Bratton'sfirst service was on the Council of War, hel
d at Staunton, Virgina to prepare for the defense of the Vi
rginia frontier.
