Born Mar 31, 1838 at Charlotte Co.,Virginia, died Oct 29, 1912 at Danville,Virginia, 74 years. Occupation: at Lawyer;
Studied Law under George Read. Practiced law at Goliad Texas, from 1859 till the opening of the civil war when he returned to Virginia and joined Company B. 14th Virginia Cavalry, Known as the "Charlotte Cavalry. In Sept. of 1861, he was commissioned Lieutenant, and was elected Captain in 1862. He co;mmanded his regiment at Bettysburg. where he was wounded m and he was again seriouldy wounded at the crossing of the Potomac, hear Hagerstown. He was taken prisoner at Moorfield, in 1864, and held in the Camp Chase Ohio prison for eighteen months. He was enchaged in 1865, and commanded his regiment from Five Forks untill the surrender. He then engaged in law practice in Danville. In 1902 he was a member of the state Constitutional Convention .
