man Thomas Walden‏‎, son of Unknown Walden and UNKNOWN Mary‏.
Born ‎between 1818 and 1819 at Balscott/Balstcott, Oxfordshire, England, died ‎ Jun 13, 1873 at Panola, Woodford County, Illinois‎. Occupation: ‎ at Blacksmith and farmer;
According to John Hirons (john@@hirons.fsbusiness.co.uk): "Sarah Hirons &
her children were born in the Northend part of Burton Dassett,
Warwickshire. Thomas Walden was born in the village of Balstcott,
Oxfordshire (I suspect this is actually Balscott which is about 6 miles
from BD-Burton Dassett). "

Married ‎before 1843 (at least 28 years married) to:

woman Sarah A. Hirons‏‎, daughter of John Hirons and Sarah Freeman‏.
Born ‎ Dec 10, 1815 at Northend, Burton Dasset, Warwickshire, England, died ‎ Oct 8, 1871 at Panola, Woodford County, Illinois‎, 55 years
Sarah may have died after 1903 since there is a civil war pension request
made on January 19, 1903 application
5559.7.1. in Illinois for wido, Sarah A. Walden widow of Civil War
soldier, Thomas Walden. More research is needed to learn for certain
Sarah's date and place of death.
Some sources list her birth on October 12, 1815 (but believe this is be
incorrect based on Christening records in England): note there are two
Sarah's listed as born to John & Sarah Hirons one christened December 10,
1815 and another christened January 14, 1821. Were there two Sarahs in
their family? Or first one died and "our" Sarah's birth date should be in
1821?

"After Jesse's death Mary Walden Plackett lived at the home of her
grandaughter, Lora Byrd Grundy, at 630 Park Avenue, Peoria. Family
legend tells that Mary used to sip whisky every day. When prohibition
came, she had a bootlegger who came to the front steps with a "newspaper"
for her. She would give anyone around a dirty look and run upstairs with
it. Mary lost nearly everything in the stock market crash of 1929 and
walked around the house in a dazed condition, worried about her
dividends. She died at this same location in December 1929 and was
probably buried in El Paso with Jesse. She was 85."
