Family tradition has her birth date as November 25, 1812 while the book,
THE COX FAMILY IN AMERICA, The History and Genealogy of the
Cock-Cocks-Cox Family Descended from James and Sarah Cock of Killingworth
Upon Matinecock, in the Township of Oysterbay, Long Island, New York
compiled by George William Cocks, assisted by John Cox, Jr. New York
Privately Printed 1912, Printed for the authors by The Unionist-Gazette
Association, Somerville, NJ 1912 has her birthdate listed as November
15,1812. According to the same book, there is also a discrepancy with
family records for her death and marriage dates which are listed as :
Death: 9-2-1886 with her marriage to Christopher Shaffer in 1826. I have
used family recorded dates instead of THE COX FAMILY IN AMERICA listings.
The Cox family bible (transcribed as written by Richard Wilson-This bible
was retrieved from Frank Wentzel, Groveport, Franklin County, Ohio upon
his death abt. 1925 and was later retrieved from Francis Cox, Youngstown,
Ohio upon his death in 1988. It is now in the possession of Richard
Wilson at email: rcw44@@hotmail.com) list agrees with family records
handed down to her decendants.
