Occupation: at Teacher; Custom Field:<_FA 1916Burial in Masoleum at Evergreen Cemetery in El Paso,Illinois El Paso,Illinois newspaper obituary: "Mrs. W.F.Sutton. Demise of Former El Paso Lady Occurs in Hunter,N.D.-Funeral Here Wednesday. Cora Adelia Shaffer was born to Lewis and Sarah Ellen Shaffer near Washington,Ill, February 20,1878,where she grew to young womanhood, and died at her home near Hunter,N.D.,June 24,1916,aged 38 years,4 months and 4 days. She was educated in the Washington schools and prepared herself for the duties of public school instructor. In 1897 she came to El Paso to take charge of a rural school. Her ability as a teacher was quickly proven and for six years following she was employed in this vicinity in the public schools. During her years of school work her admirable character and pleasing manner radiated in a way that attracted hosts of friends to her who today are steeped in grief by reason of her death. On September 1,1903, she was united in marriage to William F. Sutton. To this union three sons were born, Paul, Keith and Lewis, the latter an infant three weeks old, all of whom survive her. Mr. and Mrs. Sutton went to housekeeping on the Sutton home farm just west of this city where they lived until March 1,1914,when they moved to the present home near Hunter,N.D. She confessed her faith in Christ when but a young girl, placing her membership with the Baptist church at Deer Creek,Ill. When she moved to El Paso she brought her membership to the Baptist church of this city, nover to be moved again. She was a true Christian woman, ever faithful to her church and the bible. Realizing at times that her health was not of the most robust type, she would call those most dear to her and admonish them to tenderly care for her babies and teach them the ways of righteousness in event of her death. A loving wife, the tender mother's hands and a true friend to all who knew her has been transplanted in the better land. Besides her husband and three young sons, she is survived by her father, Lewis Shaffer of Oklahoma; a brother, Albert Shaffer of Washington,Ill, and a sister, Mrs. Frank Armstrong, El Paso. Her mother, one brother and a sister preceded her in death. The remains, accompanied by the husband and one little son, arrived in El Paso Tuesday and were taken to the Dr. J.M.Fishburn home, Mr. Sutton and Mrs. Fishburn being cousins. Funeral services were held from the Baptist church yesterday afternoon, Rev. H.W.Hines conducting the services. Interment was in the city cemetery. Among those who attended the services were F.T.Sutton of Viking,Minn; Mr. and Mrs. Edward Miesse and Mr. and Mrs. Eli Garrison of Peoria, and Mr. and Mrs. L.F.Shepard of Normal." 5. ![]() Born Apr 13, 1880 at Morton Township, Tazewell County, Illinois, died Jan 17, 1962 at Eureka, Woodford County, Illinois, 81 years, buried Jan 20, 1962 at Glendale Cemetery, Washington Township, Morton, Tazewell County, Illinois Alias: Per Mrs. Shirley J Thielbar (HPHT86B@@prodigy.com): "Albert and Elizabeth Thielbar Shaffer are buried in Glendale Cemetery in Washington Twp.,Morton,Illinois."
