Breckinridge, (before the War was Vice President of t he US), spent a week with Seaborn Hall after Jefferson Davis was captured..He decided he wanted to get out of the country so Seaborn took him in a buggy. They travelled by night and hid during the day. He brought him to a port in FL where he caught a boat to Cuba and then to Europe. President Grant gave h im a pardon three years later.
