Alfonso III, called the Great, (d.910) king of Leon, Asturius and Galicia
from 866 till his death. He fought over thirty campaigns and gained
numerous victories over the Moors, occupied Coimbra, and extended his
territory as far as Portugal and Old Castile. His three sons conspired
against him and eventually
