I'm not sure if Eb's first wife was in fact related to the rest of the Boyds in our familyl. But he was a cousin of Elizabeth Christie who married Joseph Boyd. Hence the inscription to Mr. & Mrs. J. Boyd. The photo bearing this inscription would have been of Eb and his second wife. Came West in 1901 to visit his daughter Bertha. He was impressed by the country and filed for land before moving his family to the area in 1902. Upon seeing the land Lizzie claimed "Eureka!" and Joseph decided upon the name Eureka Valley and this name endured. Sadly, Joseph died from injuries resulting from a horse kick. Probably one of these two horses!
