(the Laurel County Historical Society publication "SW Cemeterys, Laurel County": pg. 162 is listiing for Liberty Cemetery with "serveral pages of internees." The location is simply stated as "State Road 1957 [old 80] near Liberty Baptist Church." LIBERTY, 1839 Liberty Baptist Church was constituted on the second Saturday in July, 1839, from members of Lyon Creek Baptist Church. The Presbytery was composed of Robt. McCollister, Owen Adkins, David Weaver and Matthew Warren. She was constituted with twenty-five members, which organized by electing Matthew Warren, Pastor; William Taylor, Clerk; Robert Owen and James Woodall, Deacons. Was received into the Laurel River Association in October, 1839. The church has continued to hold regular monthly meetings all this long while. During this interval many gracious revivals have been held and souls saved. The present body is composed of eighty-seven members. C.A.
