Sir Edward Knighted of Poynton, Baron of Stockport, High Sheriff of Cheshire, England, was born in 1563 and died 11/13/1609. He was the 17th in lineal descent from William Warren, the 1st. Earl of Warren and Surry. William the 1st Earl of Warren and Surry was married to Gundred, the daughter of William the Conqueror and wife, Matilda.

Sir Edward married three times. He had no issue by his first wife, Margaret Fitton, daughter of Sir Edward Fitton. He married secondly to Anne, cc. 1581, daughter of Sir William Davenport of Bramall. William, their 5th child was in Virginia between 1633 and 1640. John, the eldest son of this marriage died in 1621.

Sir Edward then married Ann Ognal, daughter of George Ognal. She died at Stockport 4/20/1644. They had a son, Edward, born 5/10/1605 who was buried at Stockport, 9/10/1687, though one report said 1667. This son, Edward, married Margaret Arderne, daughter of Henry Arderne. Edward and Margaret had 8 children. They also had a son, John, baptized in 1606, who died unmarried. He was living in St. Mary's Col., Maryland in 1642. He was killed by Captain Thomas Corwallis and party in 1644.

Sir Edward 1st son, John, by Ann Davenport died young. Edward's and Ann's second son, John is the ancestor of the Warren line in Maryland.

Sir Edward married Susan Boothe (Booth) thirdly. Children of this union immigrated to Virginia and became ancestors of the Warren line there.

Sir Edward was also the M.P. for Liverpool, 1589, and was admitted to Gray's Inn, Feb. 26, 1588 or 89. He was High Sheriff of Cheshire in 1597. Towards the end of Queen Elizabeth's reign he was in the Irish Wars where he was first knighted on 7/22/1599 by Robert, Earl of Essex, Lord Lieutenant, secretart and deputy to the Earl of Derby, sneschal of King James in 1603.

Sir Edward had, in total, 15 sons and 6 daughters.
