This land lay in present day Argemarle County somewhere north of Charlottesville. Charles Caffry lived on 300, nearby acres which lay on both sides of Moors Creek, a branch of the Rivanna River.

Matthew Whittle lived on a plantation in Hanover Co. on teh Hanover-Goochland County line, his land adjoined to James Warren's land.

He paid two pounds sterling for the land. The North Forkof the James River was teh present day Rivanna River. In an Aug. 20, 1747, patent awarded to James Warren, Jr., Moores Creek was identified as situated on the south side of the Rivanna.

Diary of Reverend Robert Rose, 1746-1751:
"In about 1735 James Warren and perhaps soon after, his brother John Warren, settled on the north side of Buffalo Ridge in present Amherst Co., where copper ore was discovered. In 1747-48 the Warrens had a temporary quarter 'Warren Cabin' there. Of them it was written, 'The Warren family pictured royalties on their copper hodings for a thousand years.' Eleanor Warren, daughter of james Warren married October 26, 1747, to John Rucker, with Parson Rose officiant.
