1. John ANDERSON, born about 1670, married about 1695 Jeane (---), born about 1672. In 1694/5 Hannah Gosby (probably the daughter of Christopher Nicholson and Hannah Rednap) proved rights for Jno. Anderson and Jean Anderson at February Court in Perquimans County, North Carolina. At the March court in 1703 John gave oath to prove the will of Samuel Pricklove. He was on John Perry's 1744 list of householders. John and wife, Jean bought 209 acres from Christopher Butler, Atty. for Stephen Manwaring on NE side of Perquimans River called "Pricklows plan" formerly Edward Norwoods land[1]. On 13 July 1702 they sold 150 acres to John Hawkins on NE side of Perquimans River called "Norwoods Old field"[2]. They purchased other land in the same area[3].

John may have had a brother named James, who also bought land in Perquimans County, North Carolina in 1702[4] James married Deborah and they had a son named John Anderson and a daughter, Elizabeth, b.6 Oct 1706 in Berkeley, later called Perquimans County, North Carolina.[5], who probably died before her father. James, Sr. may have died in 1741, Perquimans. He probably had sons named James and John. In several deeds abstracted in The History of Perquimans County, North Carolina, "James is said to be of Craven County (this is probably James, Jr.) and in 1746[6], James Anderson, planter sells land on 18 Mar 1746, owned by his brother John Anderson dec'd late of Perquimans County to Christopher Sutton. Berkeley Precinct. John died between 17 Jan 1744/5 and 5 Mar 1745[7].
