man James Harvey DEAL‏‎, son of Thomas Deal and Matilda GIBSON‏.
Born ‎ Aug 1854 at Nicholas Co., WV, died ‎ BTW 1910/1920 at Clay Co., WV‎, approximately 56 years
Without a doubt this is the son of Thomas Deal listed as 'Henry' in Clay
county history. He has two different wedding dates listed in two
different books, the dates being days apart. Is possible he married first time without benefit of license, couple days later obtained license and then remarried to make everything legal, dates of marriages and license support this. First marriage his name is 'Henry' second is 'Harvey'

Alias: Buzz. With this generation we begin to find variant spellings of the original DEAL. Birth, Census, and marriage records show that as late as 1910 the spelling was Deal, with this spelling being used by Viola's family in letters to her as late as 1935. However in letters written by Willis in 1931 he has adopted the spelling DEEL which was used by his brother Watson in military records ca 1917-18. The spelling Diehl is also found on a report card for Zanna Diehl in 1938 and appears to have been in use for several years.
