James Coffin, son of Tristram Coffin and Dionis Stevens. Born Aug 12, 1639 at Brixton, Devonshire, England, died 1720 at Massachussetts, 80 or 81 years [egoncpy.FTW] Member of the General Court. Fourth of Nine children. Parents brought him to Massachusetts in 1642. He lived in Nantucket and became the first representative of Nantucket to the Great and General Court under William and Mary, in 1691. He held the honor for twenty years.
