Alay abbot in 840, he was the father of Herbert I. de Vermandois, borncirca 840, died 902, Count of Vermandois, who married Beatrice(Bertha) of Morvois, a sister of Robert I., King of France, ancestorsof a line of Vermandois counts, leading in two paths to William theConqueror; and Pepin de Senlis de Valois, Count Berengarius ofBretagne, who was living in 893.
