Came to Henniker as early as 1764, purchased 200 acres of land and built his cabin a little southerly from the residence of Oliver A. Newton. He purchased his land of James Peters, of Londonderry, and the deed was given 04-18-1762. he was a noble specimen of the hardy pioneers who first settled in this township. He was one of the members of the first church formed in Henniker.

Alexander Patterson; James Dunlap; John Stone; Samuel Eastman; Cornelius Bean; Joseph Marsh; Charles Whitcomb; Elijah Rice; GeorgeDemain; Samuel Wadsworth; Amos Gould; Isaac Patterson; James Carr; James Palmer; John Barnes; James Stone; Joseph Clough; Abraham Kimball; Ephraim Goss; and James Reed.
These men, 21 in number, were in Capt. Hutchins' Company and General Starks' Brigade. Alexander Patterson and Abraham Kimball were wounded. Pursuant to an order issued by the Continental Congress, a census was taken, with this result,---

Cause: Scrofula 15 years inflamation of the stomach.
[Cancer? seems to have come down in the family line. My grand-mother, Edith Adelia Dufur, died of uterine cancer which had spread throughout her body, and had stomach pains for years, I also had uterine cancer, which was caught early and did not spread. Glenna Menefee Inglis]

If the turn-off road is missed, the cemetery is visible from Gilbert Road beyond the turn-off.
