Michael Teets, Jr., volunteered along with Adam, Christian, andJacob Teets, joined Captain Leonard Cupp's Company of VirginiaMilitia in 1813. They took part in the regiments 400 odd milemarch to Fort Meigs at the rapids on Maumee River (now the Cityof Toledo, Ohio) which was besieged by British and Indians.
He accidentally drowned when he was about 65 years of age whilecrossing the Cheat River in high water. As it was at the time,superstitions had the victim buried at the place where they werefound so, Michael was buried on the island at the mouth of MuddyCreek.
