Charles STEARNSBorn 1625 at Nayland Parrish, Suffolk County, England, died ± 1680 at Watertown, Massachusetts, approximately 55 years, buried ± 1680 at Watertown, Massachusetts He was admitted Freeman in Watertown on May 6, 1646. 15 March1648 he purchasedfrom Edward Lamb of Watertown, a house with 8acres of land, and three other lots, and six acres of upland, onthe same day, from John Fiske. On January 6, 1680 or 1681, hewas elected Constable or Tax Collector of Watertown, but refusedto take the oath. In the same year he sold his land inWatertown to his eldest son, Samuel Stearns, Sr. It is supposedthat soon after he moved with his son, Shubael Stearns, Sr., toa part of Lynn, called Lynn End, which later became known asLynnfield, Massachusetts. |
