The gravestone of Jane M. (Crane) Hart, who was buried with her parents and sisters Betsey and Loretta, was found by Sandra Wellman in May 2002. The names of all five persons are on the same stone. Her information reads: "Jane M. Crane Hart b. 7 Aug. 1824 d. 30 Mar. 1852"

Occupation: ‎ 1839; Teacher Per 'History of Jefferson County', page 513: 'The first school opened in the present city was taught by Jane Crane, in the summer of 1839, in a log cabin on the North Side, owned and operated by the Barrie boys.' Page 513 has other personal information about Jane Crane. Jane continued to live with the Milo Jones family until her marriage to Alexander Hart on November 22, 1843.

There is confusion from the Crane Genealogy about her middle name being Baxter. Her middle name was Maria and she was buried as 'Jane M. (Crane) Hart'.
