On November 2, 1743, George Hobson and Elizabeth his wife made a deed of gift to George Hobson Jr. for 600 acres of this land, surveyed the day before by Alexander Ross. It is stated that the tract joined David Logan and John Mills and lay upon the "drains of Middle Creek," and was then in the possession of Thomas Brown. The witnesses to this deed were Alexander Ross, Morgan ap Morgan, and John Littler. On March 5, 1744, George Hobson Jr. and Hannah his wife conveyed to George Hobson Sr. a certain other part of this patent land, which had been conveyed to them previously He had 367 acres about 3 miles East of what would become known as BUNKER HILL. George was one of the first members of the Orange Cty. VA court and a Justice (4/23/1734). Details of the LDS ancestral narration "George, son of George who was also a son of George, married Elizabeth Lindley. ...George and his wife Elizabeth were probably born in England." NOTE: It has been speculated that Elizabeth later became wife to Brinsley Barnes, but this would have had to have been after 1748, the year of George`s death. According to ancestral records, Hannah apparently died before 1761, for in 1761 George signs a deed naming Rebecca (?) as wife. George is thought to have had 20 children, but only 11 have been documented in the files I have researched. George died in NJ, buried in NC.
