Name: Cainan Of The Old TESTAMENT 1 2
        Sex: M
Birth: BEF 100 in Abt 2326 Bce
        Change Date: 12 JAN 2004
        Note:
The following genealogy of Jesus (I started with Abraham) in the Gospel of St. Luke shows Cainan between Sala(h) and Arphaxad. Cainan is not mentioned in Genesis.

Luke, 3:34. Which was the son of Jacob, which was the son of Isaac, which was the son of Abraham, which was the son of Thara, which was the son of Nachor,

3:35. Which was the son of Saruch, which was the son of Ragau, which was the son of Phalec, which was the son of Heber, which was the son of Sala,

3:36. Which was the son of Cainan, which was the son of Arphaxad, which was the son of Sem, which was the son of Noe, which was the son of Lamech,

3:37. Which was the son of Methusala, which was the son of Enoch, which was the son ofJared, which was the son of Maleleel, which was the son of Cainan,

3:38. Which was the son of Enos, which was the son of Seth, which was the son of Adam, which was the son of God.

        ------------------------------

Cainan. 2. Son of Arphaxad, and father of Sala, according to Luke iii, 35 26, and usually called the second Cainan. He is also found in the present copies of LXX [The Seventy, ie. the Septuagint--Greek Orthadox O.T.], but is nowhere named in the HebrewMSS. It seems certain that his name was introduced into the genalogies of theGreek O.T. in order to bring them into harmony with the genealogy of Christ inSt. Luke's Gospel.
