Vera was a hard working woman, taking care of her mother-in-law, Mary F. Waldie Clemons, until Mary's death and then Vera worked outside the home. She often worked in the same grocery store with my father. They operated 2 grocery stores of their own in Ames, IA. & 1 in Colo, IA. Mother came at the age of 16 (1913) to live with her sister, Carrie & husband Roy Perry at Colo, IA. Their father Benjamin had moved back to Kansas & married his 2nd wife and that did not work out for my mother. She worked in nursing homes after the death of my father and then at the Overland Cafe in Ames in the Caramel Corn Stand and in her very late life, just before her death she worked for the Food Service at Iowa State University. She spent some of the years taking care of my sister, Norma's, 4 children. She truly enjoyed doing that. She died of a heart attack while watching her afternoon soap operas.

Birth & death dates verified by my personal knowledge (DB). Burial in Section 1 Block 10 Lot 6. Waldie plot.
