A brief item from today's New Zealand Herald newspaper (17 June, 2015)
....

Bike taking off
---------------
A flying bike, like the one ridden by Luke Skywalker
in "Return of the Jedi", could soon be a reality
thanks to a Kiwi designer and his team. Chris Malloy,
of Malloy Aeronautics has teamed with a defence firm
to develop hoverbike technology for the US Department
of Defence, the company announced yesterday. Malloy
Aeronautics has an ongoing research and development
contract with the US Army Research Laboratory to
create a hoverbike, which will be used for tactical
reconnaissance. Malloy Aeronautics has developed a
smaller version of the hoverbike for retail that
operates as a drone, but wanted to develop a model
that can carry the weight of an adult.
