RIP: Aaron Allston
------------------
Sean Patrick Fannon announced that Star Wars author
Aaron Allston passed away Thursday (27 February, 2014)
due to a heart attack while at VisionCon in Springfield,
Missouri. He was 53.

I had the great pleasure of knowing Aaron Allston
personally. We first met as I reviewed his books through
TheForce.Net. But it also turned out that he lived
nearby in Austin, TX, so I got to see him on a regular
basis at shows throughout the years.

Aaron brought much needed humor to the Star Wars
Expanded Universe. While many of the Star Wars books
were quite serious in tone, he brought the humor back
that made the films so much fun. That humor and wit
came directly from his real world life. As Aaron faced
health problems with his eyes as well as other heart
issues through the years, but he did so with a
repertoire of jokes and puns. It was always a joy to
chat with him and he will be greatly missed.

You can post tributes to Allston on his Facebook page:

You can also read my first interview with him from
nearly 20 years ago at TheForce.Net:
