I hadn't expected Japan to take Sam the Olympic Eagle (from
1984, back when mascots had to look like things that in some way
connected to the host country) and turn him into ... uh ... I really
have no idea, except that he tosses dynamite bombs onto unsuspecting
people, which seems about right.

Oh, absolutely. I mean, look at all those Classic ABC People
remade as turtles and otters and Gilda Radner and stuff. Plus, it's
one of nearly three cartoons to animate a coati, or as Castle Films
called them, a Snookum Bear.
