I just hope that you can avoid the smell of Tim McGraw, which seems to
be ALL OVER the malls these days! (Unless that's what you're looking
for, in which case, go right ahead!)

So THAT's what that smell was!

Not being intimate with TM, I had no idea!

Thanks for the enlightenment!

I'm looking forward to celebrating the New Jersey Big Sea Day,
unless that's a holiday Walt Kelly made up for the Bun Rabbit to get
all worked up about. Unless it was Churchy who got worked up about it
and Bun Rabbit wasn't involved.

Nah, Bun Rabbit only carried the hose. Churchy got worked up first and
foremost about the "holiday" Friday the Thirteenth. AAAAGGGHHH! It
falls on a Sunday this month!!

Now that he comes in the convenient 15 ml bottle (see

there's (thankfully) no need! (but I kid :-))

Doug was remembering correctly. Before Bun Rabbit carried the hose, he
was P.T. Bridgeport's drummer. At one point he decided to save time by
giving a cheer for all the holidays in the calendar, including New
Jersey Big Sea Day. Big Sea Day is a real holiday, still celebrated in
Sea Girt, NJ:

I think Kelly got most of the obscure holidays he named (others included
Gowk Storm Day and Laa Boaldyn, a celebration from the Isle of Man) from
a folklore dictionary.

Ooh, I had forgotten about that! Did this strip come at Xmas time and
end with everyone singing "Deck Us All"?

Kelly is a National Treasure. Too bad more folks don't know there's a
whole lot more to "Pogo" than "We have met the enemy and he is us" which
came in a much later strip.

Good to see you here again, Mark!

Judith, battening down the hatches for Sunday the 13th.
