I just attended a demo of Lotus' Jazz for the Macintosh (version .23).
Here is what little I know:
1.) You need 512k and an external drive
2.) It has communications (VT100,VT52)
3.) It has word-processing (looks just about like Macwrite as far as features).
4.) Great graphics, database, spreadsheet.
5.) Suggested price: about $595
6.) Release date (it looks like) - End of March.
Jazz was really impressive-everything is integrated quite well; you can
copy a graph into a wp document and rescale whenever you feel like it; you also have
the option of having the graph change depending on whether the original data
changes or just freezing the graph the way it is.
As far as speed, it was pretty good, not hampered by the drive, as everything
is in RAM. One important difference between Jazz and 1-2-3/Symphony; Jazz
doesn't allow macros. You can still do formulas for the spreadsheet, but as
for large, complex operations ranging from option to option, forget it. But
with the Macintosh user interface, it may not matter too much.
Altogether, it looked real slick, except when I selected "quit" and got
a system bomb.
I think people are gonna love it - it's a natural Macintosh-type application.

These opinions do not reflect anybody elses in particular, and I am of course
in no way associated with Lotus Development Corp. or related to Mitch Kapor.
