In the Infocom adventure Starcross, how does one enter the alien
spaceship???  What significance do the 'bumps' have???

In regards to the "bumps". Think of them as a map. If you are 
intelligent enough to know the significance of the map, and
indicate that fact by doing something to the map, the ship will
let you in.
