Today marks the end of an era, sort of. I finally finished converting
all my MST3K videotapes to DVD-R. Why did it take so long? Well,
starting somewhere around the middle of season 2, I decided to make
fancy menus for each disc, with each host segment and movie section
getting its own chapter break, the menu backgrounds featuring some
graphic related to the movie (usually the official movie poster, if I
could find one), and whenever possible some music from the episode.
There were also a lot of episodes where I had to make a second DVD out
of an AVI from the DAP site because my VHS copy was looking pretty
bad.

I finished the last season 10 episodes a couple months ago and have
been working on odds and ends like the Summer Blockbuster Reviews, the
Poopie tape, etc, since then. The very last thing I coverted was a
tape of Joel, Trace, Kevin and Jim Mallon at a sci-fi convention in
1992 - I don't even remember where I got that from. The second to
last thing was the Exoticon I video of Mike and Kevin, filmed by
ratmm's own Jungle Goddess and featuring many of the ratmm regulars of
the late 90s. Any of you folks still lurking? If you're out there,
Jungle Goddess, thanks again for the video - it brought back a lot of
memories.

One big benefit of the conversion effort was that I got to watch most
of the episodes in the order they were originally aired, so a lot of
the running jokes and references to past episodes that I might have
missed in the past made more sense this time around.

The other benefit is that my 13 year old daughter got interested
enough to go along with me to a Cinimatic Titanic show, and now she
frequently asks me to pick one of the MST3K DVDs to watch. A new
generation is hooked.

I haven't been on Facebook, although now and then someone sends
me a funny video link which it turns out I have to be logged in to
Facebook to see, but I am on Twitter over at nebusj.

And by the way the important news is, good job on raising a new
MiSTie into the set! We'll get the info club numbers up to 200,000 yet!

I know this is going to make me sound like the old guy who yells at
all the neighborhood kids to get off his lawn, but I don't do Twitter
or Facebook, and have no plans to start doing either. Mostly because
I don't have the free time. I barely have time to keep up with the
five or six messages a month that show up on the newsgroups I still
read.

BTW, anyone else catch the MST3K reference on The Cleveland Show this
evening?
