>WandaVision director Matt Shakman is officially set to direct
Paramount Pictures’ next Star Trek movie, which is being produced by Bad
Robot and J.J. Abrams."

>Shakman will direct from a script written by Lindsey Beer (Godzilla
Vs. Kong) and Geneva Robertson-Dworet (Captain Marvel). The film is
moving forward at warp speed, and it will begin production next spring.

>Noah Hawley (Legion, Forgo) and Mark L. Smith (The Revenant) were both
working on separate Star Trek projects, Smith was developing his for
Quentin Tarantino. Those projects have been put on hold.

>There are no details regarding the casting of the film, but I imagine
we will see at least some members of the original cast return. There are
also no story details, and we have no idea what this next film will
entail, so we’ll just have to wait to see what comes of this.

>Shakman previously worked on other series such as The Great, It’s
Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Fargo, and Game of Thrones. He’s got a
solid TV track record. Apparently, he’s been getting a lot of feature
film directing offers, and he ended up choosing Star Trek. Well, the
pressure is on, and I wish him the best of luck.

Oh heck, I hope not. I don't watch Star Trek et. al. to be 'woke'...I kind
of doubt that many of us *do* head to the movies to be preached at.

Why do they keep doing this to us?
(I don't think I've seen an episode of "Discovery", as I don't do streaming.
Is it really as bad as they say?)

We experienced tonnage with so many star treks twenty years ago. But,
twenty years have passed and I watch my daily dose of all the series of
star trek on H&I.

Discovery is a steaming pile. And it's woke. It's like, we get it. There are gay
people in the universe. Oh, yes, please call me they.

Picard is pretty bad too. I couldn't get through three episodes before
giving up.

Sigh. That's also disappointing to hear.
You mentioned H&I and I, too, watch some of the old series and Next Gen when
I'm up at my Mom's. The old series may not hold up here and there in some
respects...but nobody can deny that the sound effects have been timeless!

It also seems that they are showing the *remastered* TOS episodes, so I
enjoy seeing the 'new' CGI Enterprise, planetary scenes, etcetera. I know
that whoever did the effects said that they purposely tried not to make them
too good, so as to blend in better w/ the old times.

Probably the best part of going to visit my mom, but that's another
issue......
